Micaela Pirritano

MTA, MA (Educational Psychology)

Clinical Director & Owner

Micaela Pirritano is a music therapist and the founder of InTandem Music Therapy, established in 2021. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Capilano University and completed an intensive 1000‑hour clinical practicum at BC Children’s Hospital, where she developed a strong foundation in pediatric, family‑centred care.

Micaela brings a long‑standing commitment to working with children and disabled youth, informed by both professional training and a disability justice lens. In Spring 2026, she completed her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, where her research explored how autistic youth use technology in learning. This interdisciplinary background shapes her approach to music therapy, grounding her work in a deep understanding of learning, motivation, and meaningful engagement. You can read more about her philosophy and approach to music therapy here.

Alongside founding and growing InTandem, Micaela returned to BC Children’s Hospital in 2025 and currently works part‑time as a music therapist. She also serves as President of the Music Therapy Association of British Columbia for the 2025–2027 term, contributing to the advancement of ethical and accessible music therapy practice across the province.

Micaela has limited availability at this time. She is taking a waitlist of clients with hopes to expand services in 2026-2027. She currently works out of Cherish Clinic in North Burnaby on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. To get in touch with her, you can click here or email her at micaela@intandemcare.ca.
