Background
Micaela completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy at Capilano University, then completed a 1000-hour internship at BC Children’s Hospital. Micaela has worked for 11 years with children in a variety of professional roles. Some of these roles included private music instruction, accessibility support work, group music exploration, private tutoring, and childcare. In these diverse positions, her style of working with children has continually emphasized creativity and expression. She is trained in Standard First Aid, Music Together ®, and looks forward to pursuing continued education in relevant areas.

Approach
Micaela believes that every individual should have the opportunity to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. She has extensive experience working alongside children & youth who’ve experienced complex trauma and takes an activistic & humanistic approach to the therapeutic work she does. Music can act as a medium for self-understanding, expression, communication, and its accessible nature provides opportunities to do so. Micaela focuses on both the process and product of therapeutic work with clients, acknowledging that both can serve a useful and fulfilling purpose to one’s own development.

Micaela believes that play is a foundational part of one’s health and incorporates this philosophy into the work she does. She hopes to work in tandem with your child as they learn, grow, and thrive.

Micaela is currently only adding clients to a waitlist as she is pursuing her Master’s in Educational Psychology! To get in touch with her, you can click here or email her at micaela@intandemcare.ca.
